Come join me as I provide some constructive criticism for a screening of Michel Gondry's "The Green Hornet" (2011) starring Seth Rogen and Jay Chou, from a filmmaker's perspective. I'm kidding, I would hope I'm not that pretentious of an A-hole. In all seriousness, it should be a good time. Just an outing to the movie theaters and seeing what will likely be an entertaining movie. A chance also to support the in-roads made by Tai...wanese actor/singer/director and all around triple-threat Jay Chou in the U.S. Film market, and to check out something more commercially engaging from Gondry, who brought us such great visionary films as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Science of Sleep (2006) and Be Kind Rewind (2008).
I'll be more than glad to talk about these films, my unhealthy obsession with cinema, and an upcoming historical film project that I am currently developing about Keye Luke, the actor who played Kato in the Green Hornet TV serials in the 1930-40s even before Bruce Lee, and even before Jay. I can also talk about a current film project I am developing with Will Tiao and the Production Team behind "Formosa Betrayed" (2009), in adapting my short story "Land of Origin" (Second Place Winner in the prestigious 2010 Playboy College Fiction Contest) into a feature-length film project, a story about a Taiwanese American ex-pat who goes back to Kaohsiung and gets mixed up with betel nut girls and the gangster underworld. Should be fun, so I certainly hope to see you all there.
Also, might have a unreleased screening of the full version of my detective short film "The Case", which has not been released on the Internet or online. Or at least give the people who attend a link to view it, because it is currently an "unlisted" youtube URL.
